In this show we have Julia Herz from the Brewers Association to discuss SAVOR along with many other things craft beer.
We do a sampling of beers from around the Denver area.

#112?
Shouldn't this be episode #112 or did it disappear into the nether vapor?
Episode 112
Episode 112 is in the can, however, Jeff hasn't finished editing it yet. And since this is an event coming up soon, we wanted to get this one up as soon as we could. 112 will appear! As will 114 and on and on...
Unless...

Idea
Idea for the special moments clips thing: have the longtime CBR fans suggest clips, and then perhaps have them go and find where they are for you. If we can't remember them, is it worth going through all 112 episodes?
First clip: The entire Lost Abbey show...j/k ;-)
P.S. Forgot to let Jeff know I did finish listening to all of the episodes in just over a month (of course...this was back in January lol)
P.S.S. Agave is used for Tequila, and Mezcal is made with Agave and worms.
P.P.S.S. Greg I think you are off about recycling only ever happening due to social pressure. Companies do it because it's profitable. From everything that I've read (and that is a lot on the subject), particularly in supply chain management, recycling and "going green" are very profitable for companies in the medium-to-long-run. It requires some up-front cost, but in the end it saves them money (read: makes the company doing it money, not just creating wealth in a society) and makes them look better to the public. I don't know what you've been reading and researching; I'd love to hear what some of them are so I can broaden my spectrum of knowledge on the subject. As far as the plastic bottle convo at the end goes, they have been developing machines here in the US modeled on ones in the Netherlands (I think it was the netherlands...it was one of the top ten inventions of the year last year in popsci) that can convert things like car seats, plastic bottles, and old tires into car fuel.

adding to that
Adding to that, I think there are a couple things overlooked. While it may be that recycling is not as beneficial as people think, Greg is overlooking the landfill usage that comes from not recycling and Jeff, the reason Greenpeace et al would not make a big stink about recycling's problems is that if they did then they would lose credibility and hurt the overall environmentalist movement.
Glad to hear yall name drop me, even if it is about twitter.
Glad to see the new show is up
I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but going by the beer list and the guest it appears that it will be a great show. I am glad to see the Oskar Blues on the show. We are just getting Oskar Blues beers here in Texas. So far it is only Dale's Pale Ale, but I think Ten Fidy and Gordon will be here eventually.
Old Chub and Gordon
We just got these two beers in Texas this past week. The Gordon is great, as is the Old Chub. I don't know too much about Scotch Ale's since they aren't that common, at least in my experience, but the Old Chub certainly is a tasty beverage. Gordon has the grapefruit hop flavor that I love. Kudos to Oskar Blues for proving that flavorful beers can come in a can.
Ten FIDY
I had to comment about the Ten FIDY and the taste difference between PA and CO. I have my theory: Ten FIDY can't be rushed. It sucks in light and distorts time. I'd be willing to bet that this is why you didn't like it at GABF. Ten FIDY is more of a sit-down-on-the-couch-and-take-a-while beer. Judging from other tasting terms on this show you might call it "couch candy." It's so rich, thick, and bitter that drinking it quickly would give me a stomach ache. Drinking it like a session beer is like calling a KGB interrogator Tinkerbell. Nobody walks away from that situation happy.
I did a comparison between this and Odell's Imperial Stout a while back and noticed this when I was doing my comparison - if I switched back and forth too quickly the flavors from both beers seemed to be more concentrated and overwhelming. Imperial Stouts don't really need anything concentrated. I had to take my time with it. I definitely would not want to be drinking it thinking that in x minutes I need to be done.
Cheers gentlemen, keep up the good work -

Post show silliness
Greg may be a contrarian blow hard that hands out racial slurs like a jewish mother hands out her daughter's number to single doctors but he is right about the green movement being linked to politics. Take some time to read about Patrick Moore (I think Greg even tried to name drop him).
Green
I think that might be a little offensive to Greg, but I'll let him decide that.
As far as the rest, of course it's linked to politics. Everything is linked to politics. Yes, I've read about Patrick Moore. I'm aware of his views and I agree with a number of them. The government using scare tactics in order to cause a movement amongst people is nothing new. However, I agree that it is blown out of proportion somewhat. But, I also don't think that that means that it's necessarily a bad thing. A few projects ago at my work, it was my job to research the direction industries are going with the green movement, so I'm not exactly lacking on reading on the subject. My main point is that yes, government/peer pressure/etc. play into companies utilizing these tactics, but that is not the whole story. They profit from making these types of changes. Otherwise, they would not do them.
Sigh, this is going to be the next religion thread. Everybody is going to have a different opinion on the matter. I'm game for discussion, but I don't think it's going to go anywhere.
On a beer note, I'm having my first Bam Biere, and it is one of the most sour beers I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. I wonder how old it is (its foaming everywhere, which makes me think its been in there awhile letting the brett chomp on the residual sugars). I just found a new bottle shop today, and bought a ton of Jolly Pumpkin (since it's so hard to find around here). Apparently it comes in 12 oz. bottles, which I didn't know. (EDIT: I've gotten a lot more used to it now and it's much less sour...was more sour when cold, strangely enough)

Well-heeled, green conspiracy
Yes. We all know it's Big Green's slimy, corrupt tentacles worming their way into every aspect of it. I mean, think of all those multi-national corporations and all their lobbying power throwing dollars at the government! There are so many giant, rich companies that stand to make a mint if only the public at large would fall for their "global warming is real" and "buy our organic stuff" schtick!
Yup. Totally. And George Soros hid under my bed as a kid!
Oh, don't get me started
Oh, don't get me started about organic foods. If you think that's not supporting giant, rich companies, who love the "buy our organic stuff" schtick, you're fooling yourself.
http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4019 has a good primer on it.
Huh
We've all seen our share of A-B organics, etc. So yeah, don't bother with organics if they're bought in the aisle of Wal-Mart and think you're hitting the beast where it hurts. I, however, will stick with stuff I can buy from the guy who picked it who will look me in the eye and go "it's pretty much organic" as opposed to the pre-washed, "Certifiably Organic™ by Food Producers Agri-Consulting of the Northwest Regional Economic Countries Alliance, LLC, Inc." strawberries that show up in November at 7-11. That? Not worth a rat's ass.
As for your handy dandy (do they have a wallet card I can print?) link, Greg, I read through it all. I was trying to pick out even one that applied to me and couldn't really do it. Maybe I ought to cut my dreads and put away my bongos.
Don't wanna "get you started" 'cause ... well that's what pre-/post-shows are for :-)
Well, I happen to love
Well, I happen to love shopping at whole foods as opposed to the regular supermarket. Why? It's not because the food is organic - it's because it is better quality food. And you pay a premium for that as I should suspect I would.
And I'd love it if they just out and out admitted that it's not that the food is organic that makes the selection better, it's that they are committed to quality and throw out the bad stuff that supermarkets would gladly take. But that doesn't sell as well as "environmental-friendly organic food!" does these days.
I didn't put up the link thinking that any of his "hippie talk" applied to you (I happen to think that the condescending stuff he puts in is very unnecessary) but the facts are facts about organic food.
Way to totally take what I
Way to totally take what I said out of context.
Certified organic means nothing, and Soros is one scary dude.

It was a poor reference to the seminar on race relations in the 111 extras. I had to n- Jerry rig a metaphor and all I could come up with was jewish moms and rich Doctors.
