CBR Philly Beer Week 15: Brett Pack Reception

Interviews from the Brett Pack Reception at Nodding Head. I had some good questions, but I also seem to have had a lot to drink and wasn't at the top of my game.

Great Coverage of Philly Beer Week

Loved the coverage of PBW, Jeff. In particular ep 14 and 15.

The Brett Pack Reception (ep 15) had some great interviews with brewers. Excited in particular to hear about the newest Dogfish Head beers. I think the interviews were better than you actually think. For the most part they didn't come across like you were too buzzed or anything (well, MAYBE during the Alagash interview, though I enjoyed you being honest with him about the mixed results you've had with their beers). I actually can see a progression in your interview skill from the Great American Beer Fest to Savor to PBW. Practice makes perfect!

And enjoyed ep 14 for your questions to Jim Koch. I'm not his biggest fan (I do appreciate that Sam Adams is a pioneer in craft\micro-beer but overall find their beers average, and Jim Koch is one of the more boring brewers to listen to speak, with his repeating jokes and his ummmm, ummmms in ever sentence.), but found it good radio when you questioned him on his brewing philosophy.

Woule be awesome if you are able to go to Great American Brew Fest this year. (Yeah, I know, I know.. Donate some $$ to CBR and maybe you WILL be able to attend! :-)

Cheers!

Thanks

I'm glad that you liked those two interviews. Ironically those there the ones that I was the drunkest at. I feel that some of the brett pack interview was the best stuff I've even done and other parts I find embarrassing because I lost track of my sobriety and asked some pretty stupid questions. Such as asking Gordon what his favorite beer is..

While I think I've come into my own at interviewing people, remember how bad I used to suck. I still can't pitch those hard ball questions and back it up. Did you hear how I crumbled in front of Jim, you should of heard the un-edited version.

The Rob Tod question was difficult too. I got feedback from a listeners saying that I should of explained why I didn't like it, yes I should of. But it was a combination of having too much to drink. and it being 2 years since I had the beers that made me gun shy of the expensive allagash beers.
